I spent a couple of hours with the SCHDC after receiving it today, the first paper instructions I actually needed to read in a long time. In the end, I think I got it to work as it should but I still need to use it for a while to provide a more truthful evaluation. So, if you don't want to publish this yet, no objection. But there are a few things I want to share:
1. The instructions re charging are confusing. It says that when it's plugged in, the battery icon will come on. Not true in my case: nothing happened. The battery icon only comes on when I turn the tuner on.
2. In your chapter on banjo, you list the standard tuning for the 4th string of the 5-string banjo as being C3. In all of my semi-professional playing of 55 years, I have yet to come across someone who tunes that way as a standard. The standard for everyone is the open G tuning with the 4th string tuned to D3. I guess that is because Earl Scruggs had it that way.
As a matter of fact, this C3 is probably a typo, because if you go down a couple of lines in the instruction to where it says "begin with the first string", the 4th string is then referenced as D, as it should be.
3. The clip is really huge. I have been clipping my Onetune tuners to the banjo bracket hooks, both because it is less visible that way and it is where I can easily see and manipulate it when needed. The SCHDC clip doesn't allow that. I don't want it on the head stock, because with going in and out to the microphones in a jam setting, the tuner is too easily sent flying in that position. I finally settled for clipping it to the top of the screw that holds the resonator but am not sure that is such a secure position, either, we'll see. But offering a smaller clamp that you apparently had in the past would be much appreciated.
4. What is the difference between the HDC and the less expensive HD? Just fewer Sweeteners?
