This is my second Peterson stroboclip tuner. I love the adjustments I can make for my Mandolin or guitar. My new HDC will go on my Eastman MD415-BK Mandolin.

In the mid 1970's, I switched from using sophisticated devices such as a pitch pipe or tuning fork to tune my guitars, to using my new Conn ST-11 Strobotuner, and have never looked back. In those days, you couldn't attend a concert without seeing one or more Conns on stage flickering in the dark. Fast forward 50+ years and you can now clip a genuine Strobe Tuner onto your guitars' headstock, that is 10 times more accurate than the Conn Strobotuner. Amazing!. The first pedal of my signal chain is a Peterson Stomp Classic to remind me of my glory days. I also have a StroboClip HD, and now my newest addition, the StroboClip HDC. I love the convenience of the rechargeable battery, as well as the option to select the displays' color. Blue is my favorite. You can't go wrong with a Peterson StroboClip.

So, having already purchased and used the StroboStomp HD and StroboStomp Mini, I decided to purchase the StroboClip HDC for the size and convenience. As with others, apart from fantastic accuracy and ease of use, I really like how you can select the color of the display, in this case I chose green. And I like the internal lithium-ion battery which is rechargeable via USB-C.
Having had uneven results with clip-on tuners in the past, I was initially hesitant, but was convince by some really good reviews and demos on YouTube. And Peterson's reputation certainly didn't hurt.
As an owner of solid body electric guitars and basses I was singularly impressed that the tuner worked without even plugging in. Up to then, it didn't dawn on me that it reads the vibrations thought I suspected so. Anyhow, I stuck it on the headstock of one of my basses in the rack and plucked the B string and it did what it does best!

I've been using Peterson Tuners for over a decade. They're the absolute best, most accurate tuners available. I recently purchased a StroboClip HDC tuner for my Ciari Ascender folding electric guitar so I could top-off quickly after unfolding it. The HDC tuner is amazing as is how well the Ascender stays in tune after folding and unfolding it. I really like the sweetened tuning feature on the tuner.

I decided to buy myself a Stroboclip HDC because of reviews online. I’m very impressed with the accuracy and ease of use. I’ve been using a clip on tuner from a well known Danish company for years along with other brands beforehand and the Peterson beats all of them in all areas. Accuracy, easy to see display, rechargeable and the sweetened tunings, which I’ve found particularly useful. I’d buy one of these over any other clip on and prefer them to stomp box tuners.

Now that I am getting used to how this tuner works, I find it gets my instruments much closer to perfect pitch. I like having specific settings for my various instruments.

Does my StroboClip HDC require calibration?
Generally, your StroboClip HDC will not require calibration and should remain perfectly accurate if it has not been damaged.
Unlike more modern Peterson strobes, legacy models such as the Peterson 400, 420, 450 and 700 do require occasional calibration.
If you require service, please open a support ticket and return the tuner for repair.

How long do I need to charge my StroboClip HDC if the battery dies?
Your StroboClip HDC will give roughly 5 minutes of tuning time after a 1 minute charge.
10 minutes of charging will give roughly 1.5 hours of tuning time.
45 minutes of charging should fully charge the StroboClip HDC and allow up to 6 hours of tuning time.

What is the battery life of StroboClip HDC?
The StroboClip HDC should operate for roughly 6 hours of tuning time, dependent upon color choice and brightness.
The colors red, green, and blue use only one LED driver and therefore require less power allowing for longer use before depleting the battery.
White uses all three LED drivers at full power, using the most amount of battery power and will reduce the amount of tuning time available.
Brightness values will also affect the battery life. Brightness may be set via the Configuration Tool in Peterson Connect.

My StroboClip HDC is charged but will not turn on. What do I do?
If your StroboClip HDC is non responsive to the Power/m\Menu Button, and it is confirmed that the battery is charged, please use the Reset Button located on the rear of the tuner.
To activate the Reset Button, insert a pin or straightened paper clip into the hole in the back of the tuner. You will feel a slight depression and click of the Reset Button. Hold the Reset Button in the depressed state for 3 seconds then release.
Your Power/Menu Button should now function normally.
